Scouts Complete Eagle Scout Projects in Pierce Township Parks

July 25, 2024

Two Pierce Township Parks have new additions courtesy of Scouts on the road to becoming Eagle Scouts.

At Locust Corner Park, Scout Ava Royse constructed a lending library next to the playground.

Royse, from Troop 1452, installed the library this summer to encourage the community to share books.

This fall Royse will be attending Miami University (Oxford) to study Biochemistry, after graduating from West Clermont High School.

A mile down the road, Scout Tristan Wolford installed a new bat house at Locust Corner Nature Area & Trails.

Wolford, from Troop 443, constructed the bat houses, which were attached to a large post and secured in the ground along the trail.

This project is expected to enhance the population of bats in the area, and help with insect control in the park. Bats prey on insects, including mosquitoes.

Wolford will be a senior this fall at West Clermont High School and plans to attend Thomas More University after graduating.

The Eagle Scout rank represents the highest level of achievement within the Scouts BSA program, and all Eagle Scout candidates have to complete service projects as part of the requirements for the badge.

Royse and Wolford are expected to have Eagle Scout ceremonies later this year.
