Pierce Township History

Three years before Ohio became a state, Clermont County became the eighth county in the Northwest Territory on December 9, 1800. On December 8, 1852, the Clermont Board of County Commissioners created Pierce Township from the western part of Ohio Township, and named it in honor of President Elect Franklin Pierce.
