Pierce Township offers three park areas for residents.
Locust Corner Park & Trails, located at 961 Locust Corner Road, offers a paved walking path, playground, picnic tables, baseball fields, and basketball & tennis courts. Pierce Township hosts several community events at the park throughout the year.
Starting in mid-June 2020, areas of Locust Corner Park & Trails will be under construction on both sides of Locust Corner Road. On the south side, the new Learning Center/Shelter and restrooms will be built. Pathways will also be relocated so they are further from the road. These improvements should be completed by the end of October. To see a rendering of the Learning Center/Shelter, click here.
Unfortunately, much of Pierce Park will be closed during construction. The sewer line installation for the restrooms will also impact the ballfields on the north side of Locust Corner Road. The tennis and basketball courts will remain accessible but will be closed for a short time for resurfacing. Please remember that there are also basketball courts, playgrounds and walking paths located in the former Village of Amelia accessible to all of Pierce Township residents.
The Pierce Trustees were fortunate to receive an OKI Federal Grant in the amount of $187,635 for the Park Path relocation project and a State Capital Grant in the amount of $275,000 for the Learning Center/restroom project. A Clermont Park Improvement Grant will pay $13,594 toward resurfacing the tennis and basketball courts. In total, $583,614 will be invested in the park with $476,229 (almost 82%) of the cost coming from county, state, and federal grant programs. We look forward to enjoying these improvements as soon as possible.
