Position: Sworn Police Officer
Salary: Full-Time $64,936 – $87,731 annually 

Classification: Full-time permanent (non-exempt)
Probation Period: One year 

Reporting To: Shift Supervisor (Lieutenant) through the chain of command to the Police Chief 

Job Description: 

Pierce Township is seeking dedicated and community-oriented individuals to join our police department as Sworn Police Officers. In this role, you will perform essential law enforcement duties, act as ambassadors for our community, and ensure public safety. This position is ideal for those who are passionate about serving and protecting the community while upholding the law. 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Perform duties in accordance with departmental policies and local, state, and federal laws. 
  • Patrol assigned areas to maintain order, enforce laws, and assist citizens. 
  • Respond to dispatch calls, investigate complaints, and conduct interviews. 
  • Secure crime scenes, document evidence, and prepare reports. 
  • Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies as needed. 
  • Enforce traffic laws, conduct sobriety tests, and monitor traffic control. 
  • Maintain proficiency with law enforcement tools, including firearms and defensive techniques. 
  • Engage in community policing and listen to public needs. 
  • Attend training seminars and participate in ongoing professional development. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Proficient in all facets of law enforcement and conflict management. 
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written. 
  • Ability to solve complex problems and make informed decisions under pressure. 
  • Commitment to high ethical standards and integrity. 
  • Physical ability to perform law enforcement duties, including the ability to engage in physical confrontations if necessary. 

Qualifications: 

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; graduation from an OPOTC Accredited Police Academy is mandatory. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or a related field is preferred but not required. 
  • Experience: Two years of law enforcement experience is preferred but not required. 
  • Licenses/Certifications: 
  • Valid driver’s license 
  • OPOTA certification required

Schedule: 

  • 12-hour shifts 

Hiring Insights: 

We are looking to hire two full-time police officers and one part-time officer. All candidates will undergo an interview process, polygraph examination, comprehensive background check, psychological testing, and medical testing.
