Sassafras

Size: The tree commonly grows between 30 to 60 feet and its canopy can stretch up to 40 feet.

Location: The tree grows in the Eastern half of the United States.

Fun Facts: The sassafras tree is commonly known for its importance in making root beer.

Leaf Characteristics: The leaves have three rounded points and are smooth to the touch.

Bark: The bark is coarsely rigged and has an obvious scent to those around it.

The flowers are a yellow color and several can sprout from the same bud.
