Development Facilitation

The leadership of Pierce Township recognizes both the challenges and the opportunities that progress presents. In order to help guide land use and economic development in the Township, the Trustees created the “Land Use and Development Facilitation Program.”

The program strives to maximize results by forging constructive working relationships with all stakeholders in the development process. Through outreach, the program proactively engages owners, developers, residents and contractors in the pre-development planning process.

This approach musters the skill and knowledge of all involved to produce the best development possible .The contentiousness of many development processes is eliminated and the results benefit all involved.

In June 2010, the Pierce Township Board of Trustees created an Advisory Committee for Development Faciliation. The Committee, comprized of Trustee Knoop, Trustee Batchler and five Pierce residents, held five public meetings for the purpose of studying and discussing current community and economic development projects. The Committee also studied the collaborative links between development stakeholders; analyzed township economics and budget forecasts; and learned about other County and Township community and economic development programs from professionals in the economic development, real estate and development fields. In August 2010, the Advisory Committee presented the Board of Trustees a list of recommendations for consideration when contemplating future Program goals and objectives. The Committee concluded that economic development and community planning is critical to protect and enhance the quality of life for Pierce residents.Advisory Committee – Trustee presentation August 2010 final
