To the residents of Pierce Township and Ohio Township:

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Ohio Valley Area. With the potential of more rain and storms over the next few days there is a strong possibility that the Ohio River may flood and crest at or above 59.5 feet.

This letter is intended to help provide you with as much warning time of the potential flooding in the area that we possibly can. If you reside in a flood prone area impacted by the Ohio River or backwater flooding, we recommend to you to use this time to make any necessary arrangements to secure your property, pets, and establish alternative living arrangements for you and your family. Please also remember to secure propane tanks and fuel oil as they can become dislodged during flooding.

It is our recommendation that you consider voluntary evacuation due to the uncertainty of the situation. If you choose to stay, please keep in mind that we may not be able to reach you should an emergency arise and we can’t guarantee the availability of utilities dues to the current conditions. If you need assistance, please feel free to contact the Fire & EMS Department for any assistance we can provide. Please pay attention to local weather forecasts and stay as informed as possible. A temporary housing shelter will be established if necessary in cooperation with neighboring communities.
